SCM Non-Physical This three-day workshop is intended to enhance participant skills and understanding of Safe Crisis Management non-physical intervention strategies. The program reviews core concepts of behavioral support as well as provides specific primary, secondary and tertiary intervention strategies, which when used correctly will have positive impact on the organization’s culture.
Primary strategies to be learned include organizing and delivering needs based programming, developing structure and routine and promoting collaborative rather than adverse relationships. In addition, the use of surface behavior management techniques are reviewed.
Participants will learn and practice secondary strategies that include non-verbal, para-verbal and verbal intervention techniques. The active listening model and the use of de-escalating responses are practiced in emotionally charged role-play situations. A debriefing and resolution interaction formula is demonstrated and practiced. This tertiary strategy provides a methodology by which crisis behavior can become a therapeutic experience.
