The Impact of Development on an Individual’s Behavior Choices
Course hours: 1.0-1.5     Price: $22.00/person

This course focuses on how individuals’ behavior choices can be influenced by dysfunctional growth and development. Dysfunctional growth and development often manifests itself through inappropriate and, eventually, delinquent behavior. Trust, security, and attachment must exist for normal growth and development to occur. Individuals that have not experienced trust, security and attachment often display behavior that is confusing and frustrating for staff. Understanding the causes and impact of dysfunctional growth and development puts staff in a better position to help these individuals succeed.

This E-Learning course is for those qualified to attend the Safe Crisis Management (SCM) Annual Staff Recertification training.  This course includes a review of the SCM content followed by a Quiz to assess the individual staff’s knowledge.  The E-Learning course does not assess staff’s knowledge or physical skills relating to Escapes and Emergency Safety Physical Interventions.  This is reviewed and evaluated during the in-person portion of the Annual Staff Recertification training.  Some benefits of using the E-Learning course as part of the SCM Annual Staff Recertification training include:

  • Potential cost savings for organizations that can save the cost for additional staff to fill-in for the individuals that are recertifying.
  • Potential time savings for the staff recertification training (see “Training Requirements” under Criteria for Using this E-Learning Course).
  • Dedicated training time during which staff can focus, practice, and improve Escapes and SCM Emergency Safety Physical Skills.
  • Allows more time for staff to review and improve knowledge and application of SCM Non-Physical Skills.
  • Allows for flexibility in completing the E-Learning Course.  Staff may stop at any point during the E-Learning course and later resume at that stopping point.  Staff may take as long as desired to complete the E-Learning Course, as long as it is completed before next scheduled in-person SCM Annual Recertification to complete the course.
  • All staff review and are assessed on the same content, which provides a more reliable learning experience and assessment among all staff.  This is especially important if organizations have more than one staff providing training and/or have facilities located in different areas.
